survived hurricane sandy, by the way. they taped up all the limbs in jersey as the storm came through. they were concerned sandy could also get this one. it didn't and it's going to be arriving and heading up shortly. ice skating rink is up and the holidays are right around the corner. this is the busy travel time of year as we head towards thanksgiving. and thankfully we're getting a break from all those big, huge storms. there's only one little thing that's interesting that could be minorly destructive as we go throughout next week. there's an ocean storm. as of now, this is monday through wednesday of next week. it appears to be far enough offshore for only minor -- very minor -- consequences for areas that were hit by hurricane sandy. we're mostly concerned with new england up there towards massachusetts and cape cod, possibly beach erosion and coastal flooding. hopefully the trend will keep this offshore even further and we don't have to deal with it. this morning it's a quiet day. it's cold, it's chilly, but it is t

lot of dramatic weather over the last four days, but i did stumble across this video from superstorm sandy, one of the most epic videos i've seen of the storm surge and the waves crashing there. this was union beach, new jersey, a 15-year-old stayed in his house and took these pictures right as high tide approached. and you can see, this is about three hours before that water even peaked at its height. that's why the jersey shore got devastated. let me show you what's going on on this monday morning. winter gear for many across the country. the coldest morning by far from west to east. new england's a very chilly morning just like it's been all weekend. we are seeing a little bit of snow out there coming off of lake ontario, oswego down to syracuse. a little snow on the new york state throughway. that's about it, though. you want to talk about cold. look at the northern plains. now in the negative windchills from minneapolis to fargo. that cold air is heading for chicago as we go throughout the day today. also, the other side of this. still a little bit of warmth left in the deep south. we

this tree had to survive hurricane sandy and was picked out in new jersey and had to tie it up quickly right before the storm hit to protect it from the storm because they didn't want to have to pick out a new tree. it survived, of course, sitting here and it'll be later on this evening. we had a messy day yesterday. wasn't pretty, the airports had problems too. now as we go throughout the day it's cold in the wake of the norm. for the tree lighting it will be chilly. windchill, 32 and we will see the temperature itself somewhere right around 39. as far as the roads go after that little snow and rain yesterday, secondary roads could have a minor issue but later no problems at the airports. no travel issues whatsoever, we'll see highs in the 40s all through the northeast. rest of the country looks chilly. windchills cool seeing them around the rest of the nation especially in the midwest in the teens. even texas a little cold but the big weather story over the next three days if you are traveling to the west coast, you're not going to see typical west coast weather. it is going to be ve
